Citigroup's Michael Carpenter resigns to start firm

Michael Carpenter, once considered a successor to Sandy Weill, is leaving Citigroup to set up his own investment company. Carpenter, who headed the company's alternative investments unit, is the latest in a line of executives to depart Citigroup since Charles Prince became chief executive officer in 2003.
