FTC, ValueClick agree on $2.9M settlement of spam charges

The Federal Trade Commission has negotiated a $2.9 million settlement with ValueClick to resolve allegations that the online ad firm sent out misleading promotional e-mails and ads, and failed to keep consumers' financial information secure. The fine reportedly is the biggest to date under the federal CAN-SPAM Act. ValueClick did not admit to any wrongdoing in the settlement.
