Obesity increases breast cancer recurrence, shortens survival

A study finds overweight or obese women diagnosed with locally advanced breast cancer are at greater risk for a recurrence of the disease and have a shorter life expectancy than their normal or underweight counterparts. Researchers say obese patients also are more likely to have inflammatory breast cancer, a rare, aggressive and deadly form of the disease.
