More than $1 billion in road and transportation projects could begin in Pennsylvania later this year. State Secretary of Transportation Allen Biehler this week said the state will use the economic-stimulus funds to pay for work on 608 miles of roads and 399 bridges. He said the DOT hopes to have as many projects as possible begin before September. "Our intention is to start work within six months, so we can really jump-start the economy," Biehler said.
