Private-equity firms eye Motorola, Nortel assets

Private-equity firms are circling some of Motorola and Nortel's assets with the intent of forming a consortium to assemble them into one group, according to a published report. Advent International, for example, has reportedly kicked the tires of Motorola's handset unit and some Nortel divisions while searching for other investors.
