American requests exemption from tarmac delay rules at JFK

American Airlines has joined Delta Air Lines Inc. and JetBlue Airways in asking to be exempt from a new rule that limits the amount of time an airline can keep passengers waiting on the tarmac. The request, made to the Department of Transportation, is specific to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, as it is undergoing construction to its main runway.
