Bernanke plans to tout Fed's abilities to House panel

Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, plans to tell the House Financial Services Committee that the central bank should oversee major financial institutions as well as smaller banks. The Fed is "uniquely suited to supervise large, complex financial organizations and to address both safety and soundness risks and risks to the stability of the financial system as a whole," according to Bernanke's prepared testimony.
