Ethanol industry grew by 15% last year, RFA says

In 2009, the ethanol sector grew by 15%, increased capacity by 1.5 billion gallons, added eight plants and reopened 14 facilities despite the economic downturn, according to Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. Speaking at the National Ethanol Conference in Florida last month, Dinneen said that this year the industry must work to raise the blend wall, answer challenges about ethanol's carbon footprint and push for a renewal of federal tax incentives and import tariffs.
