The lead authors of the Senate compromise climate bill are hoping that their business-friendly approach will gain the support of the powerful Alliance for Energy and Economic Growth. The lawmakers believe that the 1,200-member coalition's support will win votes for the climate proposal and prevent a repeat of the costly ad campaigns that the coalition's two biggest members waged against earlier climate measures.
