Northern Ireland tests marine tidal power

Northern Ireland is testing experimental technology to capture energy from marine tides. SeaGen, an experimental tidal station, features a 1.2MW tidal current turbine that has generated 800MWh into the national grid over two years. SeaGen has received funding from Siemens and others and plans to build the U.K.'s first tidal array by 2012.
