Sadr movement surges in Iraqi election

The Shiite followers of Moktada al-Sadr reclaimed their place on Iraq's political stage by taking a surprising share of votes in the country's March 7 election. The Sadrists' success, which may amount to more than 40 seats in parliament, seems to indicate a populist wave of opposition against U.S. collaborators, and could significantly realign the ruling government.
