Underwater cables new trend in power transmission

Installing power lines underwater can avoid the political tussles over transmission towers and unsightly power lines. Recently, PowerBridge constructed an offshore cable from New Jersey to Long Island to transmit power for about $600 million. The underwater cables also provoke less environmental concern, although the cables need to be laid to avoid some types of spawning fish.
