Verizon gets solid head start on 4G phone sales

Preorders started strong Wednesday for Verizon Wireless' first 4G smartphone, HTC's ThunderBolt, according to online retailer Wirefly, which said it took five times as many preorders for the smartphone than for any other cell phone in its eight-year history. Verizon will officially begin marketing the ThunderBolt today at a price of $250 under its familiar pricing plans, including a $30 unlimited data package. Previously, 4G users could connect to the speedier network only through laptop aircards.
