Washington, BNSF work to shore up mudslide-prone slopes

Mudslides in the Pacific Northwest have wreaked havoc this winter on passenger and freight train service. The state's transportation department is working with Burlington Northern Santa Fe to shore up slopes along railways -- and is hunting for federal funds to pay for the fixes. Some 20 mudslides have halted passenger train service in Washington state in just the past three months.
