Executives from Google, General Electric and DreamWorks Animation write about how their companies foster innovation in the workplace. At Google, employees are treated like entrepreneurs and given resources to pursue their ideas. GE connects individual risk-taking with the company's overall values. DreamWorks encourages its team members to act on their ideas, even if it means changing course in the middle of a project. "Simply put: Individuals must be allowed to fail in order to innovate," DreamWorks HR chief Dan Satterthwaite writes.
