ESRI lets developers access a serious geo-database

ESRI has expanded on its original Arc-GIS program for urban planning into a cloud-based system for incorporating geo-data easily into applications, Alex Williams writes. "[T]hat data gives developers ways to create apps that help us navigate using virtual tools that will soon be, if not already, more predominant than the paper maps and atlases that many of us grew up with," Williams writes.
