Exec: Green bonds could help advanced-biofuel projects advance

Nontraditional financing approaches such as green bonds issued by the World Bank and other institutions to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions may help advanced-biofuel projects get off the ground, according to Michael Eckhart, Citigroup's global head for environmental finance and sustainability. Green bonds do not need collateralization and securitization, which may spur lending to advanced-biofuel projects, Eckhart said. "We see this as a very interesting win-win scenario," he said.
