Experts: Drug-resistant infections pose wide-ranging threat

In Australia, four-fifths of urinary tract infections are resistant to more than one antibiotic, according to a report in the Medical Journal of Australia. Infectious disease experts are calling on the nation's government to establish a group to oversee the use of antibiotics. Tissue transplants and critical care are among the areas threatened by the rise of antibiotic-resistant infections, experts said.
