The misguided practice of discounting adviser fees

Too many financial advisers needlessly discount fees for their services, according to Pusateri Consulting and Training. It notes there is a 127 basis-point gap between the top and bottom quartile of adviser fees on midlevel accounts. "Paradoxically, correcting and clarifying pricing with clients actually reinvigorates the client's perception of the adviser's value," the report says.
