The Kellogg Co.'s Special K Pastry Crisps and Frito-Lay North America's Tostitos Cantina Tortilla Chips and Doritos Jacked ranked among the best product launches last year, according to IRI's 2013 New Product Pacesetters Report. Special K Pastry Crisps was third on the list with $100.6 million in sales while the new Tostitos product raked in $100.3 million for fourth place and Doritos Jacked, in ninth place, brought in $25.9 million. "New product innovation is more important than just dollars, though. It builds excitement, buzz and competitive advantage," said Larry Levin, executive vice president and practice leader for IRI.
