Nurses help generate data to improve workflow

Old census-based staffing models at Florida Hospital Celebration Health may give way to an electronic tracking system that follows nurses' movements within the building to help improve the workflow. Nurses and other hospital staff wear electronic tags on their name badges, which can help pinpoint which patients are most demanding and show which tasks are not efficiently distributed among the workforce. Nurses choose whether to wear the tags and have access to their own data through a Web portal, said Chief Nursing Officer Patty Jo Toor.
