The Swiss population consumed an average of 20.8 kilos of cheese per person in 2012, according to a Swiss milk producer's association, and they will spend up to 50 francs on an average cheese purchase. The Swiss penchant for high-quality and expensive cheeses has opened the door for U.K. producers to sell such specialties as Stinking Bishop, known as England's smelliest cheese. "Entrepreneurs here aren't necessarily competing on price. They're competing on quality," cheese importer Michael Fontana-Jones said.
