System links emergency room NPs with off-site docs

New telecommunications technology unveiled at the University of Mississippi Medical Center links nurse practitioners at eight rural hospitals with physicians who are not on-site. The new TelEmergency System enables NPs to work with UMC physicians in treating critically ill or injured patients without the physicians having to be called in from their clinics or from home during off-duty hours.
