Opinion: Tampa transit should include suburban stations

With the establishment of the Tampa Bay Area Transportation Authority, officials in Tampa, Fla., hope the city can soon part company with Detroit as the last of America's 25 biggest cities without a transit system. While the city envisions using mass transit to encourage smart growth in the urban core, at least one developer is reminding planners that service to high-growth suburbs is key to cutting automobile use.
