Companies hope perks keep staff happy

Several high-profile companies are offering new perks such as child care, concierge services and adoption benefits in an effort to retain employees. Taking a long-term, optimistic view, The Wall Street Journal says these companies do not want to be understaffed when the recovery begins. This comes in light of a Harvard Business Review study that indicates the voluntary quit rate might be up among layoff survivors despite economic hard times.
