Copenhagen delays subway extension after Cologne collapse

After the fatal collapse of a six-story building in Cologne, Germany due to subway construction, Denmark will delay its extension of the Copenhagen subway to reassure lawmakers. Both cities grapple with elevated water tables, which can complicate underground construction. The fourth phase of the subway, scheduled to open in 2018, will feature 17 stations covering the city center and outlying regions.
