Google names insider for key ad role

Dennis Woodside, a Google veteran who helped develop its European sales operations, has been tapped to become vice president of operations for the Americas. Among his duties will be to work with marketers, and their ad agencies, as the search giant tries to boost its share of display ads. Woodside succeeds Tim Armstrong, who has been named chairman and CEO of Time Warner's AOL.
