Single question screening IDs alcohol abuse problems

A study found asking primary care patients how many times in the past year they had consumed a given number of alcoholic drinks in a single day -- five for men and four for women -- could accurately identify alcohol abuse problems. Researchers found one drawback to the study was that almost half of patients approached in a primary care waiting room refused to participate.
