Seeking to jump-start negotiations with its pilots, Continental Airlines is offering essentially the same provisions accepted by pilots during the merger of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines. The only differences: Continental pilots would earn $1 per hour more than Delta pilots and would not have a seat on the company board. While admitting that it was "unconventional" to essentially swipe a competitor's contract, "our action is a clear and good-faith offer to promptly conclude an agreement that is fair to the company and fair to our pilots," a Continental spokesman said. Delta pilots are generally considered to have the most generous contract of any legacy carrier.
