FDA issues rules restricting sale of tobacco to minors

The FDA on Thursday announced new restrictions on the sale of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to people under age 18. The new rules include a ban on the distribution of free cigarette samples as well as the sale of the products in vending machines located in places that are open to minors. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the restrictions "will help our kids stay healthier by making it harder for tobacco companies to target them."
