Open source technology ushers in revolution in translation

Open source systems have allowed users to fine tune and improve translation technology to the point where the software has incredible accuracy. Microsoft has released a voice interpreter, while Google Translate can decipher pages of text in another language. The next step, writes Sam Dean of GigaOm, is to create a program that translates multilingual websites in real time.
