Opinion: Don't confuse "white spaces" with "super Wi-Fi"

Unlicensed spectrum in the 600 MHz band that the government has freed up is neither "super" nor "Wi-Fi," despite the use of those terms to describe the technology by its proponents, according to a commentary by the head of wireless network engineering firm Rysavy Research. The firm's president, Peter Rysavy, said the white space spectrum is inferior to the Wi-Fi standard and he argues that policymakers were wrong in believing that it would help alleviate the traffic jams on wireless networks.
