AAP releases list of common tests, treatments to question

As part of the Choosing Wisely campaign, the AAP on Monday released its list of pediatric procedures and treatments that doctors and patients should call into question, including the use of prescription antibiotics for treating viral respiratory conditions. The group also deemed computed tomography scans unnecessary for minor head injuries, simple febrile seizures and routine evaluation of abdominal pain. "Pediatricians want the best possible tests and treatments for their patients, and they want them to be used appropriately," AAP President James M. Perrin said.
