National Poison Prevention Week is an opportunity to remind cat owners of some of the most common threats to pet health, writes animal advocate Michele Hollow, who shares some important reminders from the CATalyst Council. Easter lily plants can be lethal, and human food including onions, garlic, chocolate and caffeine can make cats seriously ill, she writes. Owners should also keep medications away from cats, ensure that flea prevention strategies are safe and remember that cats can be exposed to rat poison from dead or sick rodents.
