Laser plus topical treatment reduces plaque psoriasis in study

Treatment with an excimer laser combined with topical clobetasol spray and calcitriol ointment effectively treated patients with moderate to severe generalized psoriasis in a study reported in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment. Patients were treated two times a week with a 308-nm excimer laser and two times a day with clobetasol propionate spray followed by calcitriol ointment. After 12 weeks, more than half achieved full or nearly full clearance, and 76% had at least a 75% reduction in psoriasis area and severity.
