Oracle releases Java 8 with major changes

Oracle released the long-anticipated Java Development Kit 8 on Tuesday with Project Lambda support to enable Java to become a functional programming language. This will make the program easier to debug, and it will benefit parallel programming, analysts say. "There is no doubt that the change in syntax related to lambda expressions is the biggest new thing in the language and likely to have the most impact in the future," said IDC's Al Hilwa.
