Michigan laptop program to reach fewer students than hoped for

Although 82 districts and charter schools applied to be part of Michigan's Freedom to Learn laptop program for sixth-graders, only 30 districts met the strict eligibility guidelines. As a result, just $6.6 million of the $17 million available in federal funds will be allocated.
