New Minnesota standards successful in House vote

Thursday, the Minnesota House approved controversial new science and social studies standards designed to ensure that all students learn a prescribed list of events and concepts in history, geography and economics. Because the Senate is not expected to approve the same ones passed by the House, the final standards most likely will be shaped by a conference committee.
