Survey: NCLB testing mandates have narrowed curricular focus

The No Child Left Behind Act's focus on core academic subjects has forced schools to narrow the focus of their curricula, according to a survey of nearly 1,000 principals by the Council for Basic Education. Schools with high minority enrollments were more likely than other schools to have cut back on non-core subjects such as arts and foreign languages, the survey found.
