ACLU sues Florida district over graduation-rate discrepancy

The American Civil Liberties Union on Tuesday filed a landmark class-action lawsuit on behalf of students and families in Florida's Palm Beach County schools, saying it fails to provide a "uniform, efficient, safe, secure and high-quality education." The suit cites low graduation rates in the county as evidence that the district is letting learners down, especially the school system's black and Hispanic youth, a smaller proportion of which graduate on time compared with their white peers, according to state data.
