ASCE report card gives Florida infrastructure a C

Florida will have to invest $200 billion over the next 20 years to maintain and improve its infrastructure, according to a report card issued Tuesday by the Florida Section of the ASCE. The state's bridges and wastewater received the highest grade of B+, while energy and schools were the lowest-rated categories, each earning a D+. "Our infrastructure is sliding toward failure, and without intervention, the prospect for any real improvement is grim," said Fraser Howe, chairman of the section's Government Relations Committee.
