Avoid over-reliance on inside referrals

Employee-referral programs can be a good idea, but such referrals may sometimes work against the diversity that boosts the workplace experience and perspective. Companies with strong preexisting networks may also appear insular and even cliquish. To ward off potential problems, a company can try such things as limiting the number of hires from any one employee's network.
