Estrogen-progesterone combo raises breast cancer risk

A report from the American Cancer Society found the combined use of estrogen and progesterone in postmenopausal women more than doubles the risk of lobular breast cancer and almost doubles the risk of ductal breast cancer. Researchers found the risk began to decrease two years after discontinuing the drugs. Estrogen alone did not increase the risks of cancer, the report found.
