Low blood supply threatens to delay surgeries at Florida hospitals

Suncoast Communities Blood Bank in Sarasota, Fla., said it does not have enough supply for emergencies and surgeries at its partner hospitals, including Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital, within the next two days. The blood shortage is due in part to the high patient volume at the two hospitals, a blood bank representative said. The blood bank is asking other blood centers and hospitals for help and is calling on the public for donations.
