ACC: U.S. economy, chemical industry to experience slight upturns

The U.S. economy's performance since the recession ended in summer of 2009 points to a V-shaped recovery, according to a report from the American Chemistry Council. For chemicals, total output is projected to increase by 7.8% this year, before growth moderately slows during the next two years. "Although projected growth rates for most industries appear positive in 2010, they must be viewed in the context of the exceptionally sharp declines seen in 2008 and continuing into 2009," the report added.
