Alcatel puts LTE hopes on new migration platform

Alcatel-Lucent, one of Verizon Wireless' key vendors for its LTE trials, on Thursday gave the world a look at its suite of new technologies designed to help carriers transition to the 4G platform. The critical element of Alcatel's Ultimate Wireless Packet Core is its 5780 Dynamic Services Controller, which the gear maker said would allow operators to provide customers with more advanced features in 3G and LTE. Other hardware in the core is designed to help manage heavy data traffic.
