EIA: Haynesville tops Barnett in shale-gas production

The Haynesville Shale in Louisiana has overtaken the Barnett Shale in Texas to become the country's most productive natural gas shale, according to the Energy Information Administration. The Haynesville is generating 5.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day, compared with Barnett's daily output of about 5.25 billion cubic feet. "Technology-driven efficiency gains" have helped Haynesville operators reach 5 billion cubic feet "with far fewer wells," the EIA said.
