Intensive glucose control raises hypoglycemia risk in preemies

Premature infants with hyperglycemia who received intensive glucose control therapy did not show better survival rates and had slower linear growth and a higher risk of hypoglycemia compared with those who had standard treatment, researchers reported in the journal Pediatrics. Greater overall weight gain and head circumference were also observed in infants who had tight glycemic control.
