Preservation can be a greener solution for old buildings, says group

Recycling old buildings for new purposes may have less impact on the environment than construction of new ones, according to the Alhambra Preservation Group, which advocates preservation of historic structures. In a documentary entitled "The Greenest Building: The Role of Historic Buildings in Creating a Sustainable Culture," the group stressed that construction of new buildings requires more energy and produces more pollution.
