Cordray and White gain nomination support from Senate panel

The Senate banking committee has endorsed the nomination of Richard Cordray to direct the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Mary Jo White to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission. White gained approval in a 21-1 vote, but all Republicans rejected Cordray, who obtained approval in a 12-10 vote. Cordray faces a much tougher road in the full Senate, which has not yet scheduled a vote on his nomination.
